In 2017 I decided to stop using relaxers and putting any heat on my hair. In May of that year I wanted to surprise my husband who was graduating from the Air Force BMT with a new look so I had box braids out into my hair. I loved the style since I hadn’t had braids in over a decade. After taking out those braids I noticed some of my edges had fallen out. Although I had a little hair loss 2 months later I got box braids again, but this time I asked the stylist not to braid the front as tight. Fast forward April 2018 I did box braids on myself for my baby shower and again in July right before I gave birth. After giving birth I suffered really bad postpartum hair loss. My edges were falling out like crazy and I had a really bad hairline and tried covering it up by going natural and wearing headbands. Still to this day I still deal with postpartum hair loss, but thankfully my edges are slowly filling in.
