I began my natural hair journey in 2015 and it’s been a painful sweet experience for me.
The struggle to maintain a neat look is real I must say! I went from using shampoo to wash my hair to substituting shampoo with conditioners to keep my hair from drying out everything it’s not braided.
Fast forward- it’s 2019 now I can comfortably advice some beginners on some lessons I have learnt through my journey thus far! I would admit tho that so many times I was tempted to relax my hair due to the discomfort of maintaining my hair in its coarse natural state and not to mention now it’s long and very full lol! Well for now am still here, still pushing.
Lesson:
- stop using shampoo to wash your natural hair it would only make it stronger! Use conditioners a lot of conditioners! Whichever works best for you, I use shea moisture.
- once in a while let your natural hair breathe, stimulates your root!
- avoid blow dryers or any form of heat! Air dry your hair ladies lol
- keep your natural hair moisturized everyday lol I use castor oil on mine to ensure this!
There is so much to be said lol but hey! Find what’s best for you and be consistent for me these are my top 4 I hope it does come in handy to someone out there
