3yrs ago I broke my foot in 3 places I was off work for 3mnths had to keep my foot elevated 12hrs a day & told I wouldn't be able to go back to lifting heavy weights or wear wearing my high heels again! Fast forward 3yrs and I've taken part in 2 powerlifting comps placing 1st & 3rd place & I walk in heels higher than ever .

Three years ago when I turned 50 I decided that it was time to let my sister locks go. I loved having sister locks and having natural hair, however 20 years of being on thyroid medication thinned out my crown to a point where I could no longer hide the thin/ball spots. In my 20s, 30s and 40s I've shaved off my hair to be different, but now in my 50s I've embraced wearing all types of wigs. After all, I AM NOT MY HAIR!

Transitioning/Growing your hair takes patience and time, so until then you fake it till you make it. Even tho I love my natural hair, I like to play around with different styles. Three years ago I could wear my hair any way I wanted to because I was relaxed, but now that i did the big chop and am now 1 1/2 year post my big chop I now can braid my hair up and rock a full sew in. Wearing Her Given Hair Coily Hair has given me so much life because I can rock the length I hope to see my hair get to one day, while protecting my hair underneath. The picture with me in the black shirt looks like laying down is 3 years ago and the picture with my work jacket on is now. I didn't mean to send the black and white photo though. 3 years ago I was really working on getting my hair to grow from a low cut I had that I felt like I couldn't take a while. But I kept taking care of my hair and began to be more careful with how much chemical I put in it (relaxers). Now I get 2-3 relaxers a year and this is the progress that's been made from that and keeping it treated. I'm very happy with my results so far!
